Barraclough family history

Hello, My name is Bob and I am a direct decendent of the Barraclough family. My great, great grandfathers name was John Barraclough and he was M.I.A in the war between the states. I believe he was from New York State. After the war ended my great,great grandmother changed the family name to Barcliff. Many of which still reside in New York state and Califorina. My grandfather (William Barcliff) once told me the Barraclough family origanated in Spain and migrated to England sometime in the 16 or 17th century. If anyone has any information on the family history or information on the family name change also anything on John Barraclough I would greatly appreciate it. Best Wishes Bob
