This is the will of Conrad Barsh, thought to be the son of old George Barsh, Revolutionary War Veteran of Orangeburg, SC.In the 1820s Conrad moved with his family from SC to Autauga County, AL.The will is thought to have been written about 1838, and probated after his death in 1848.

In the name of God, Amen, I Conrad Barsh of the state and county aforesaid being well in body and of sound mind, thank God for it, do make this and this my last will and testament.In the manner following, that is to say after all my lawful debt is paid, for all my property to remain with wife Elizabeth as long as she lives for her use and my two youngest children Rachel and Thomas and?my? houses and land and Negroes, horses, cattle, hogs, and plantations and tools and wagons all to remain for their use until the death of my wife Elizabeth.I give to my son Thomas three hundred dollars for his education of my estate and our home and all my houses and land.
2d, my will is that my property that remains besides what I give to my son Thomas to be equally divided amongst my five children Harriet, Margarete, Caroline, Rachel, and Thomas, and for Thomas to have first choice of the Negroes, and it is also my will that what property my four daughters get of my estate to remain to them and their children.If my two single children should die, their part to be equally divided amongst the ?, only no division till after the death of my wife.
Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of us this 15th day of October 1838.
Lastly, I appoint my wife Elizabeth my executrix and George Barsh my executor of this my last will.
