Have a new question:has anyone ever tried to separate the two Johan Bartelts--one born in 1803 and the other in 1812--I have also seen 1813 as a birth year.Mine is the one born in 1812, married Wilhelmine Schwahn.The Johan born in 1803 married a Mathilde--maybe Lust?
So far as I know mine was a farmer in Marathon county from 1856 until his death in 1878.The other one moved to Clarke's Island (where is that?) and had a grocery store.I don't know which one had three brothers--always assumed it was mine but am ready to rethink everything.Who belongs to the other john Bartelt?Joyce Curry
