I too have a Johann Bartelt in my line. He was my greatgreatgreatgrandfather.He was born in Germany around 1795. Wife's name unknown. He had 3 sons. Ferdenand abt.1825,Johann Carl Friedrich,Oct.6,1821, and AugustL. born Feb 1,1828.August L. was my gggrandfather. August and wife Albertine (DeCalnever) came to USA I believe in the late 1850's, and settled in Brookfield WI. They had several children. One of which was my ggrandfather, Louis Bartelt.He for sometime used the name Bartels.Louis married Katie Smith Baggs. She had 3 sons from a previous marriage.Together they had 3 children. Marie(Grandmother), Louis, & Clarence.After Katie's death, Louis Sr. married a distant cousin, Rosa Bartelt Thiel and lived in Winslow,Ill, where he died in 1938.Marie married Charles Westphal and had 4 suviving children.CharlesIII, Alvin, Katherine(Mother), and Dorothy. Marie died in 1946.Have been trying to find out info on all for quite some time.I have checked out your website, Mike, but couldn't make a connection. It's a great site though.Kathy
