I am granddaughter to Ramond Jackson Bartholomew (b.1895-d.1953), descendent of Andrew Jackson Bartholomew. My grandfather was son to Iva (b. 1877- d.1950) and Bernard Andrew Bartholomew (b. 1867- d. 1930).My grandfather, Ramond was born in Boscobel, Grant, Wisconsin and they moved to Washington State in the late 1890's. He had a sister, Josephine (Bartholomew) Culver. My mother said her father had told her that they are Dutch. So, I guess ancestors were from Holland. My grandfather was a Capt. in the Marines from 1914-1935.The rest of the Bartholomew family (Roy, cousin) disowned him for reasons I won't state here, although I will say that my grandfather was a very honorable man.He died in Colorado and my parents had him brought back to Tumwater, WA for burial at the Masonic cemetery there. He was raised in Chehalis/Centralia, Washington prior to joining the Marines in 1914.He spent alot of time in California around San Diego (Mare Island?) during his military career. My mother became deaf from Typhoid Fever while travelling to China on his third tour of duty over there 1932-1934.She is now 76 and still searching for who her mother (my grandmother) might be.My many years of research indicate that she is a Native American woman with the last name Nelson from Washington state.Bernard had minig and quarry interests and also owned a hotel in Tenino, Washington. So, I have been searching for over 40 years, not much luck so far.Just alot of closed doors and family resentment over what happened so long ago.In general, though the Bartholomews settled from Holland and migrated to the Wisconsin and Indiana areas initially.
