William Scott Bartholomew was born on March 17, 1846 on a ship coming to America from Ireland. His birth certificate reads "An Irishman Born at Sea". His parents were Andrew Jackson Bartholomew (b. Mar 11, 1815 in Ohio I think) and Margaret Scott (b. Mar 15, 1819 & married on Mar 28, 1838 County Cork, Ireland)Came to America because of continuous war betweent he Catholics and the Protestants.Family settled in Steubenville, OH on the Ohio River.

William Scott joined the Union Army as a drummer boy.He picked up the rifle of a slain buddy and became a regular soldier.He lost the sight of one eye.he was with Sherman's March to Sea.
After the war married Cornelia Elizabeth Mitchell (daugher of Capt. James Mitchell) on Jun 14, 1866 in Agency City IA.Moved to Newton County, MO to homestead.Left Missouri and settled in a little area near Strickler Arkansas.(You will find Strickler on HWY 265 S about 15 miles South of Fayetteville).Then moved to Scott County Arkansas.Cornielia Elizabeth Mitchell (b. Apr 6, 1846 TN, d. Feb 12, 1905, buried in Coop Prairie Cemetary in Mansfield, AR) Very prominent, involved in church & civic affairs, well educated, singer and musician.Cousins by the name of Tailer alternated as Gov. of TN.Cornelia was in a finishing school in Gettysburg and was present when Pres. Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.

After the death of Cornelia, William Scott married Etta Charlotte Bullard on Aug 21, 1905. She was born on Sept. 26, 1877 in Alabama.He was 59 at the time. She died May 24, 1965 and is buried in Townsendhouse Cemetary in Dade City, FL

William Scott Bartholomew was a member of the Company E 22nd Infantry.He was wounded it Vicksburg.He was at Gettysburg and heard Lincon's address after the Battle of the Shenandoah Valley.He was discharged at Savannah.His family moved to Florida when his son Robley was a baby probably around 1908.He died at Zephyrhills, FL of an apparent stroke on Oct 21, 1917 and is buried at Oakside in the Civil War Veterens Plot.
This information was compiled by my mothers cousin.I have copies of family birth records, William's discharge papers, a Christmas sermon that he preached in Mansfield, AR and a funny story about a revival he preached in Evansville, AR where he had to put his pistols on the pulpit after threathening the "rude desperados" not to drag their spurs across the floor or they would get them shot off, a photo of him, Etta, Floy and Robley, his and Etta's obits and more.

4. Elizabeth born 1771 married Hoseph Millon.Second marriage to John Parker.She died in Belmont Co. in 1864 at the age of 93.One child Susan Parker.
*5. Joseph born in 1780 and died in Lancaster, PA on Aug 22 1834.He married Margaret Merchant on Apr 5 1807 at Anne Arundel Co. MD.Margaret was born in Baltimore, MD on May 12, 1785 and was living in Pleasant Wapello Co. MD.Joseph was drafted in 1813 at Annapolis, MD and served under Capt. Barnes in Co. Hood's regiment.He a;sp served in Aug 1814 under and was present at the death of Gen. Ross.
