>Bartles at beverley near hull had music emporium and also were tailors. Also bartles at york and harrogate
I'm from the Harrogate Bartle batch.
We seem to originate from a Frederic(k) Bartle, born about 1834 in London. He spent a few years in Bristol before marrying one Eliza Hood and moving to Harrogate. He was organist at St Mary's parish church in Harrogate and headmaster of St Mary's church school. He gave his occupation as "professor of music". None of the music genes seemed to have reached me.
He and Eliza had 9 children, the first of whom (Mary Louisa) was born in Beverley; I therefore suspect a link between the Harrogate and Beverley Bartle branches.
If anyone knows more about this Frederick Bartle than me, please get in touch!
