Thanks for responding so quickly.I have the census info.I've tracked Philip in 1840, 1830, & 1820 censuses.I can't find him on the 1810.I am taking a leap saying Rachel is his daughter.I found a marriage announcement in the 1/24/1844 Huntingdon Journal saying that Adam States and Rachel Bartleboug of Walker Township were married on the 18 inst. by Daniel Africa. It was only by chance did I notice Philip on the 1840 census on the same page as Adam's father Wm States. From the 1850-1880 censuses I've determined that Rachel was born between 1822-1824.
In the 1830 census there is only one Bartlebaugh in Bedford county, but several Puterbaughs and/or Puderbaugh (David maybe Davis, Joseph, Georgeand Sphen or Stephen).Do you think they are the same family?Could the name also be Butterbaugh?
Do you know where this family came from?
