In 1861 living in the same house as John Bartleman, in York St, West, was a Sarah Salmon, noted as married, (nee Bartleman) and her three children Ellen (Helena), Thomas and Alice (my gg-grandmother). I have Alice's birth certificate (Kensington) and I have requested on for Helena (Pancras). Sarah's husband, Thomas Salmon, was living with her in Pancras in 1851 and in St Luke's in 1871. I have not yet definitely located him in 1861, but as a furrier maybe he was away from home.? I have not yet located a marriage cert but am starting to send off for some for T Salmon. Sarah Bartleman is very elusive. Have you seen Parish Registers for Chelsea. At this point I am trying to determine whether Thomas and Sarah may have been non-conformist and so not in the regular C of E Parish Reg.
Do you have much information about John B (Westminster), such as children? I was about to request some marriage certs for him (either London or Staffs) to ascertain what denomination he was. There are no children noted as living with John Bartleman in the censuses, even in 1841, but there is a neice (in 1851 age 3 aswell as in '61) and a grand-dau Mary Green in 1871. I have searched for Mary Green's parents and later whereabouts but have not come up with anything definite yet.
I have tentatively looked at many other Bartleman families in London but until I can find her marriage cert or her baptism in the PReg it is hard to link her with any Bartlemans other than John (1811).If you can help with any of this I would be grateful.
