Other Thomas Bartletts
There were several contemporary Thomas Bartletts in the early South Carolina census records.A Thomas Bartlett was listed on the Salem/Sumter County 1800 census in S.C.The man and woman’s birth dates were both between 1774 and 1784.A male born between 1790 and 1800 lived with them. This Thomas Bartlett in Salem/Sumter would not be old enough to be Sterling Bartlett’s father. [Sterling was born 1782-84.]
Thomas Bartlett (born between 1765 and 1784) and wife and 7 children with birthdates starting in 1794, lived in Darlington County, S.C. in 1810.
A Thomas Bartlety who was born in London, England in 1759 came to America 1774, fought in the Rev. War in the Maryland line. After the war he moved to Virginia for two years then to S.C.He applied for a pension Oct. 3, 1849 in Edgefield, S.C., and mentioned his children, but called only one by name…Thomas, Jr. and a grandson Thomas. This man could NOT be Rhoda Bartlett’s husband, however, because we know that he died before 1817 in Lexington County SC.
