At the S.C. State Archives there is a state grant (on microfilm-a copy of which I just received by mail) made out to Richardson Bartlett for 1000 acres of land in 1807."surveyed for him 17 Nov. 1807 Situate in the District of Edgefield between the Charleston road and the head of the Branches of Little Horse Creek bounded by lines running S.E. on Richardson Bartlett and land surv'd for Jacob Fudge by a line running N.W. on land run for James Pichett by a line running N.W. on Christopher Shaw's land by lines running S.W. on Solomon Lucas land," etc. Signed by the governor on the 7th day of Decr. 1807. On a present day map, Little Horse Creek is in Aiken county, beginning at what is now the Twin Lakes Airport and running into Horse Creek right near Clearwater in Aiken County. The area this grant seems to cover is probably between Twin Lakes Airport and Springdale or somewhere near.Aiken County was not created until 1871, but I do wonder if some of the records of the disbursement of this 1000 acres wound up in that county. Might tell who Richardson's children were.Would be worth a look.
