Looking for origins of Eleanor Felker who married John Bartlett on April 12, 1817, at Hagerstown, Md. John was my gr gr gr grandfather, and Eleanor was his second wife. We always heard Eleanor's name was Felcon and she was born in England. We recently learned, from a contemporary diary found in an attic, that Eleanor was "a Pennsylvania Dutch lady." The Bartletts left Maryland for Washington County, Ohio, around 1820 and are buried at Little Hocking where I grew up.
Have loads of info about the Bartletts and related Birds (Byrd) and Allens of Mass. and Va., Pheasant and Roberts of England, and will be glad to share. It's possible Felker, as written on the marriage record in Hagerstown courthouse, was changed from Voelker or something similar.
