shipwrecked sailors from the spanish armada? never heard that one until now...stranger things have happened. since the french (or norman) empire included spanish territories from time to time, it IS possible that a branch of the de berthelots' may have migrated to there from normandy...i have traced my direct lineage to a robertus de bethelot, son of unknown de berthelot, 5th or 6th generation (don't remember exactly which, my data is not in front of me) from the original berthelot, son of bertha, sister to queen bertha and king pepin of normandy, parents of charlemange, as told in the bartletts of pendomer site. while there is some dispute as to exactly what relationships with others (the de stophams, specifically)the first bartlett to come to england with, or as to his status in his own right, the base facts are well established and recorded in history.
do you have any data or sources to confirm you spanish connection? tom
