Josiah Bartlett was grandson of Richard and Hannah (Emery) Bartlett; Richard was son of Richard and Abigail Bartlett, and this Richard was son of Richard Bartlett, born 1575 Ernley, Sussex, England, and came to America in 1635, settling in Newbury, MA. He died there May 25, 1647.
------------- My family links in with Josiah's son Michael Bartlett married first to Zerviah Edwards married Feb 18 1819 in Gallatin Co., IL.
They had: William Wells, Michael Rice, Joel, Zerviah and Lucinda.
She died before 1830 and he then married Bethina Babbitt on May 31, 1833.So Zerviah must have died before 1833.
They had for children: Mary, Saphira, Hiram Carroll, Christina, Cynthia Ann and Nancy.
Hiram Carroll married Eliza Ellson Ellingsworth on February 28, 1860, Rock Island Co., IL
Cynthia married Eliza brother William James Ellingsworth, Jr. on September 10, 1861, Davenport, Scott Co., IA.
I'm related to the Ellingsworth's--I have some information for these families if interested.
