I noted your post on the Bartlett family website.I am also descended from the Bartlett clan, but I am originally from Alabama.
I know for a fact that a lot of the Bartletts formerly were from the Northeast Alabama area, i.e. DeKalb and Cherokee counties.A lot of these folks eventually ended up in Texas, mostly around the Brownwood, Comanche areas. Many of these folks were related and I have traced a good many of them to that part of Texas. Most of these moves happened some years after the Civil War up into the early 1900s.
It seems that Catherine was a common name in the Bartlett family as was John.
I am descended from Blake and Feminine Bartlett who originally came from Newton County, GA into Cherokee County, AL immediately after the Civil War.In fact, my GGM Mary Bartlett was born in Cherokee County as the first of the Alabama children. The rest has been born in Newton County, before the move to Alabama.
I ran into a gentleman on-line by the name of Jack Bartlett in Sherman, TX a number of years ago and he sent me a lot of material on the Bartletts. He has done extensive research back in the Carolinas and continuing west into Texas. He has a vast knowledge of the Bartletts and Barkleys.
I do not have his current email address, because he changed servers abount a year or so ago.I do have his snail mail and you might want to drop him a line for additional possible help.I bet he can help alot more than I have here.Who knows though we may me kin folk.
Jack's mailing address is as follows:
Jack Bartlett P.O. Box 1056 Sherman, TX75091
