The search for proof of Michael L. Wilson's Mother and Father continues
No picture of Michael L. Wilson. born in 1823 died May 07, 1862 Muncie Deleware County Indiana, Grant County in Thrailkill Cemetary in the old section. 3 miles North of town ofSwayzee. Michael L. Wilson married to Sarah Ann Bartlett born in VA. June 20, 1822 died March 20, 1911Knoxville-Marion County Iowa
My cousin Douglas Wilson and I have doubts about the 1850 Census concerning Michael L. Wilson's father being the recorded Michael Wilson liveing in Michael L. Wilsons home. Please read below.
Michael L. Wilson's father according to the Census of 1850 could be a Michael Wilson age 60.However this not an absolute fact. One thought was that the Census taker could have made an error, and the 60 year old in the home might have been Benjamin Bartlett. Sarahs father Benjamin Bartlett wasBorn October 13, 1793 in VA.making him around 53 years of age.The census of 1850 gives the recorded Michael Wilson, living in Michael L. Wilson's home the age of 60.
The Census of 1850 also records a Elza Wilson living in the home of Michael L. Wilson. Our Sarah Ann Bartlett did have a brother with the name ofElza Bartlett.Elza Bartlett's birth date wasaround 1830.If Elza was born between 1827 & 1830 hewould have been around the age of 20 to 23.So the thought is did the Census taker record the wrong sur names on both of these individuals?
In a document Harrison Co, VA County Court; July term 1816: NOTICE ROBINSON vs. BARTLETT.provided by Jim Bartlet we find a John Wilson Jr.
See below; The defendants are notified to appear before a court in Clarksburg on the third Monday in October to answer said complainant’s bill.John WILSON, Jr. C.H.C.C.
Then in another document of information provided by Jim Bartlett we find the following Wilson or Willson names.
Thomas BARTLETT Sr bought his farm in May 1742 from Edward EIDSON and William JORDAN.The deed noted that the land adjoined Edward EIDSON’s brother, William LEWIS and the heirs of James WILLSON, dec’d.The witnesses were D. GAINS, Em’d COLLINSWORTH and Wm WILLSON – almost certainly one of these was related to Thomas’s wife, Elizabeth. In 1745 Edward EIDSON and John EIDSON had a tract of land (left to them by their father Edward EIDSON, dec’d) surveyed. It was adjacent to Thomas BARTLETT and to John MARKS and Mr CHURCHILL.In 1747 Thomas BARTLETT bought from the estate of Mary BATCHELDER. In 1748 he witnessed a deed between Elias WILLSON the Younger (and wife Eliza) to Joseph YEATMAN. John SISSON also witnessed. Also in 1748 Thomas BARTLETT and Henry SETTLE were voters. In 1750 the estate of William MORGAN paid Thomas BARTLETT. In 1752 Thomas BARTLETT, Joseph EIDSON and Robert SPENCE were jurors together. In 1759 the estate of Thomas YEATMAN paid Thomas BARTLETT. Thomas BARTLETT’s 1767 will was witnessed by John EIDSON, Daniel JACKSON, Morton WILSON and Christopher COLLINS.
Jim Bartlett - provided a little more using the North Farnham Parish Register... No entries for a Batcherlder Wilson, James & Mary Willson had children James born 1703 - Anne born 1707 - John born 1710.John and Margaret WILLSON had children: Sarah b 1703
So I now look for a connection to my Michael L. Wilson to James WILLSON - Wm WILLSON - Elias WILLSON - Morton WILSON - James Willson born 1703 - Anne Willson born 1707 - John Willson born 1710 of VA.
So I repeat Michael L. Wilson was born in 1823 and it is possible that his parents or Grandparents were one of the above mentioned.
So at this time March 14, 2004 we are still search for documentation concerning our Michael L. Wilsons father, mother and beyond.___ James Wilson McKinstry 2004
