Thanks for your prompt replies. Although, needless to say, they are somewhat discouraging. Most of the information I have comes from my uncle, who scoured old courthouse documents and cemetery records all over Kentucky, and corresponded with contacts in Virginia, until ill health stopped him.He died in early 2000 after many years in a wheelchair.
I have taken this up only recently and gotten additional data, while somewhat conflicting at times, from Ancestry.com.
I suppose my next step would be to search Virginia birth certificate records and ship records to try to verify the father of Thomas Bartlett (1670 Virginia).
The information I have (see if you agree with this):Thomas (1670 VA) m. Patience Bentley (1671-1713 VA), dau of Nathaniel Bentley, of Essex Co.,VA; 2 children--William and Elizabeth.William (1692/6 Essex Co.-1774 Spotsylvania Co.) married Susannah Davis (1700-1788), dau of John Davis and Susannah Wyatt; 7 children--Henry, Thomas, William, Susannah W., Ann, Isabel, and Sarah.
(Capt.) Thomas (1733 Spotsylvania-1809 Harrison Co.,[W]VA) m. Mary Foster (1738 Spotsylvania-1814 Harrison Co.), dau of Anthony Foster; 9 children--Anthony, Edmond, Thomas, John, William, James, Henry, Nancy, Prudence.
John (1766 Spotsylvania-1835 Franklin Co., KY) m. Sally Gore (1777-1847 KY), dau of William and Polly Gore, in Dec 1792 in Franklin Co., KY; 14 children: Polly, Sally, Willis, Thomas H., John G., William E., Susannah, Maria, Anthony John, Elizabeth, George W., Emily L., James L.M., and Jane A.After that, my line comes down from Anthony John.
I would be interested in knowing more about the DNA study.Thanks.
