I have now finished extracting the census for BARTLETTs in Tennessee - 1820-1880 (the 1810 was lost).
If you have ancestors in TN, I can give you all the census info for them. I'll be happy to email you whatever you want.
All of the census info is arranged in chronological order by TN counties. I've also made a sort which groups each year into one group.
I've also made an alpha list of every BARTLETT in the every TN census up to 1880, indicating when they were born and where.
Here are the principle families who settled TN in the earliest years - you'll note we have DNA on record for four of these families - the [dates in brackets] show about when these men migrated into TN.
Overton-White-Putnam-Jackson Co, TN [treat as one area] [DNA-F]
Joseph BARTLETT b 1767 VA came from Henry Co, VA to Hawkins Co, TN c1791. His first wife [?] SIMS died c1794 and the 3 children went to live with their grandmother SIMS. Joseph m 1795 Millicent RICE and by 1820 had moved his family to Overton, TN area; where many of their children raised large families. Son John moved to Claiborne Co, TN.
Joshua BARTLETT b 1765-70 (brother of Joseph) migrated to Clark Co, KY where he m 1794 Winnie HERRING/WILLIAMS. About 1808 they moved from KY and settled in White Co, TN - in the same general area as Joseph.
Nathan BARTLET b 1763 VA (probably a close cousin to Joseph and Joshua) married c1796 KY; and moved to TN b 1802; settling in White Co, TN
Robertson Co, TN [DNA-H]
Thomas BARTLETT b 1782 GA; married 1805 in SC to Martha MASTIN; and about 1810 they moved to Robertson Co, TN, and many of that family stayed in that area through 1880. One of his sons, Gabriel Mastin BARTLETT b 1821, moved to Shelby Co, TN and the Town of Bartlett there is named for him. Thomas 1782 GA may have been accompanied to TN by probable brother William BARTLETT b c1790 who was also in Robertson Co, TN census 1834 & 1840.
Wilson Co, TN
[before 1822] There are many BARTLETTs who married and lived in Wilson Co, TN in 1820s and 1830s and on.It appears they may all be the children of one family, but it is not clear who the parents would be. [please tell me, if you know]
Lincoln-Bedford-Moore Co, TN [DNA-L] (Moore formed between Lincoln & Bedford in 1870s - treat as one area)
-William BARTLETT b 1784 NC was probably in SC in 1812; then in KY 1815-1825 before moving to TN by 1828. He lived about on the border of Lincoln and Bedford Co, TN (he was in the census in both counties, not because he moved, but because the borders changed back and forth - his son James Mansel was buried in the part of Lincoln Co that became Moore Co, TN). Some children moved c1849 to Union Co, IL
Maury-Marshall Co, TN (Marshall formed 1836 from Maury-Lincoln-Bedford) (may be ties to Lincoln-Bedford)
[1820s] - it looks like 3 BARTLETT men, probably brothers, possibly from VA: Thomas M b 1802; William b 1800-10; and Cyrus H b 1809 came to this area before 1830. Thomas moved his family to Tipton Co, TN by 1840. These three men could conceivably be sons of William BARTLETT b 1784 NC who settled in nearby Lincoln-Bedford Co, TN [we need a DNA participant from any of these three men]
Weakley Co, TN [DNA-G]
William BARTLETT b c1784 VA; lived in VA 1815-1827 and then moved to TN by 1830 [there is a Bartlett WILLIAMS in the Weakley Co, TN 1830 and 1840 census that is perhaps this William].Children: Nancy married and moved to Obion Co, TN; William L and sister Sarah Ann married (not each other) and moved to Stoddard Co, where it appears he died.
Williamson Co, TN [DNA-F]
Joseph S BARTLETT b 1796 Plymouth, MA came to TN and married 1838 Williamson Co, TN Amanda PORTER; they had 6 children born TN; then 1841-43 moved to Washington Co, AR.Son George T became a Physician and returned to Robertson Co, TN for a while to practice.
