The BARTLETT-DNA Project now has matching DNA from the line of William BERKLEY c1690-1761 of Loudoun Co, VA.One line through his son Benjamin BERKLEY c1720-1766; the other line through another son William BERKLEY c1722-1804 m Mary GARDNER. William BERKLEY c1722 was also called BARTLETT and had children: Garner/Gardner, John, William, Stacey, Daniel, Samuel, Elizabeth, Thomas, Alethia and possibly Sarah. His son William Jr bc1755 acknowledged in his RevWar Pension application that he was sometimes called BARTLETT, BERKLEY and BARKLEY... Most of these children moved to Clark Co, KY - as you track them through the census records, the surname gradually reverts back to BERKLEY.Oldest son Garner moved to Berkeley, then Frederick, then Montgomery Co, VA where he died.He retained the name BARTLETT.
The matching DNA confirms that this family was originally a BERKELEY line from Westmoreland to Loudoun Co, VA.
I would really like to find a living BARTLETT from the Garner BARTLETT line to participate in the BARTLETT-DNA study and confirm that Garner BARTLETT was indeed a descendant of William BERKLEY/BARTLETT.
