Hello Elizabeth, I don't have any info on the marriage that you are looking for, but I do have some SISSON info. Caleb SISSON abt 1735-1807 was my 4th gr-grandfather, and his son's did move around. Stanley (my line)moved to Ohio about 1830, and it appears that some of his sons went west. Stanley's son, and my ancestor, Ludlow Branham SISSON stayed put in Virginia, but Stanley's younger children made the trek to Ohio.
James is credited with being the namesake of Sissonville, WV. Abner and Armistead SISSON both wound up in Jefferson Co., KY. John SISSON went to KY but appears to move to Clark Co., MO between 1830 and his death in 1840. Jesse SISSON was in Brooke Co., VA (probably now WV) until the 1830's, when he moved and bought land in Clark Co., MO on 09 Nov 1841. He died there about 1864.
Jesse's son, Asbury Chapline SISSON 1816-1894, had a son named James Franklin SISSON, b: 12 Mar 1853 in Clark Co., MO and d: in Tehama Co., CA. J.F. SISSON was listed as James in 1860 and James J. in 1870; it was in 1880 after his marriage to Mariah Willis BASH that he was listed as James F. SISSON.
A Larry SISSON wrote on the SISSON list 07 Sep 2009 that a Franklin SISSON b: 1852 VA (now WV)and d: 1911 Morrilton, Arkansas married a Nancy McCLENNEN 1836-1911 and They had a son, Nathaniel Bartlett SISSON b: 16 Sep 1868 in Cleburne, ARand d: 11 Aug 1903 in Pangburn, White Co., AR. Larry SISSON attributed the above Franklin SISSON as being the son of Asbury Chapline SISSON & Rachel JOHNSON.
I don't believe that this is correct, as the above James Franklin SISSON appears to have no connection to AR; and to my knowledge Asbury Chapline SISSON did not have any sons named Franklin.
If you would like more info, write to me off list. Thanks, Jimmy M. Sisson(firstname.lastname@example.org)
