I agree about the informant.In this case it was a relative but "HAMpTON" could sure sound like "HAMilTON" if someone is distraught because their mother just died and the clerk can't understand them.I have a case where a "Campbell" is referred to as "Camel" in court documents.That's because in East Tennessee that's how it's pronounced!
Another interesting thing about John "HAMPTON" Bartlett is that there are 13 Public AncestryTrees and one Private that have him dying in 1906 (which is when Joshua died). Interesting how copying off the wrong person can change the whole course of history.I'm trying to straighten them out now.Let's see how many trees have been abandoned after the 14-day free trial expired.
