Homer appears at the age of 9 in an 807-militia district 1880 census as living in Marion County, GA with 46-yr old Ruth, and the following relatives, probably siblings: George 20, Mollie 31, Julia 19, Ida 18, Charley 17, Lula 15, Archy(a.k.a. Archie) 10, Albert 5, Oscar 4.'Aunt Maude' lived with Pope, even after Homer died.Maude was one of Homer's 1st cousins, daughter of 39-yr old James according to the same census, same year.
Homer D. had a daughter and a son - the latter being Fred G. - with his first wife. After she died, he married Emma P McCreary or McCrary, who was nicknamed 'Pope'.Their children were Royce Denmark, Heard, Atholine, and Lottie.I was told by my great-aunt that Homer D. was a grocer who died during the Great Depression.
We have been told that we are descended from one of 3 brothers, one of whom was named William, who came over from Scotland during the time of the potato famine, but we've only been able to solidly trace back to Homer D.
