We probably do have a connection here. I am Admin of the BARTLETT DNA Project, and this line is one with many participants. Descendants of probable brothers Joseph and Joshua BARTLETT all have exactly the same Y-DNA as descendant of the Mayflower from Plymouth, MA - we just can't find the VA connection.
Joseph BARTLETT b c1765 VA; d 1838 Overton Co, TN. He married c1785 probably Henry Co, VA Sarah SIMS. Joseph is in 1787-90 Henry Co, VA Pers Prop Tax Lists. It appears the family moved to Hawkins Co, TN c1791. c1794 Sarah SIMS died and her children James, John and Sarah went to live with their grnadmother SIMS, and an aunt Lucy CHISHOLM/CHISUM. c1795 Joseph 2m Millicent RICE, and they had 11 more children from Feb 1796 to c1817. By 1811 Joseph was in White Co, TN and his is in the 1820 and 30 Overton Co, TN census, and Millessent is in 1840 census. Children by SIMS, James, John and Sarah were apparently reunited with their father at some point and grew up and married in TN. Or perhaps the SIMS family was nearby - I don't know the story well enough.
Joseph has a probable brother Joshua b c1768 and married 1794 Clark Co, KY Winnifred HERRING. Joseph and Joshua had a brother or close cousin Nathan b c1751 VA who also move from VA and settled in this area of TN.
We cannot find their parents in Colonial VA.
Is there a family story in your line of raising some BARTLETT boys?
