Cousin Liza: The Bartleys were Northern Ireland Anglicans. With son John (1851-1922) and 5 daughters they moved to Canada in late 1850's and went by land from Montreal to a farm on Tecumseh Road north of Tilbury next to the Walsh farm.On the trip Mrs. Bartley took ill and died and was buried near Trenton, Ontario. The girls married Essex and Kent county men. John (1851-1922) farmed for a while and then ran a store in South Buxton east of Tilbury and then became Tilbury's first Post Master sometime in the late 1880's and retained the position until he died. He had married Annie Walsh (from next door). John Bartley was my great grandfather. I didn't know the names of any of his sisters.
