Henry Barwell (16th Century)
Dear Sirs
One of my remote ancestors was an English pirate named Henry Barwell, who departed Plymouth on August 26th 1591, on board the galleon "Dudley", belonging to the fleet comanded by the famous pirate Thomas Cavendish. About one and a half year later, he was made a prisoner by Portuguese troops, in the Island of Sao Sebastiao. He was not executed, together with his fellow pirates, because he was a Catholic, which they weren't. He was eventually released, married a local heiress and had one son, born here in Brazil, named John Barwell (spelled Joao Baruel), and many many gandsons and great grandsos and so on and so forth.
Is there any information about this Henry Barwell's ancestors, place of origin in England, etc.?
Thank you in advance for the attention paid to this message.
