Leonard, Alexis V., Jabez BATES - VT, NY, ND

Alexis V. Bates was born in Vermont May 12, 1826 to (I believe from census info) Leonard Bates (b. ca. 1791 - d. ca. 1865) and wife Rhoda.I think Alexis had a brother named Jabez P. Bates.They are all found in Stockholm, St. Lawrence County, New York during the last half of the 1800s.Would love to find where in Vermont they migrated from and who their ancestors were.

Alexis (1826 - ?)and his sons William S., Franklin T., and Jonathon A. "Jay" Bates went to Dakota Territory in the 1880s and filed for homesteads.Franklin T. Bates ended up in Silver Bow Co., Montana.Jay A. Bates lived in Fairfield, Washington and died in Butte, Montana in 1913.William S. stayed in North Dakota, I believe.Don't know where Alexis Bates died or is buried, or his 2nd wife, Sarah (Riggs).Alexis' first wife was Charlotte Trussel.

Would love to find some descendants of this family.My husband is descended from Jonathon "Jay" Bates.
