Bon Jour Alain,
I read your post on the Batterman Family Genealogy Forum.I don't know if you read English, because you posted in French, but I translated it through Bablefish: http://babelfish.altavista.com/http://babelfish.altavista.com/
I'm curious to know when your family emigrated to France. My husband's surname is Batterman, but it was not hisgreat-grandfather's original name. When they emigrated to the US (new York), they took the name, believing it was an American name. His great-grandfather saw the name on top of a department store and the family was known as Batterman since then.No one knows what his original name was.Of course, it would mean that after coming to the US, they went to France.Otherwise, they wouldn't have the Batterman name.
My husband has told me that he has relatives in France, but no one knows who or where they are.Although I doubtit very highly, perhaps we could be related.
If you can read this, please write back to me.
