Mary Batterton of Bloomington Indiana and Topeka Kansas
I may finally be getting somewhere on my Mary E. Batterton. I sent for the military records of her husband Reubin Scott. Got them this week and hope the new information I found in them, about her, will help me locate her family. This is what I know so far. Mary E. Batterton born 25 Oct. 1836Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana died 2 Feb 1923 at the age of 86 Topeka Kansas buried Talmage Kansas Married Reuben Scott 8 Feb. 1877 Kansas The marriage license states that Reuben was 41 and Mary was 35 at this time. Only birth date does not agree with this age on Mary.
She had a brother named Edward A. Batterton who was 72 years old in 1902. his aprox. birth date would be around 1830.Edwards states that her father was William Batterton all of Bloomington Indiana. She also had a cousin named Ewing Batterton he was age 73 in 1902 giving him an approx. birth date of 1829 He also was from Bloomington Indiana.
Mary had never been married before she married Reubin Scott. She was living in Topeka Kansas when Reubin died in 1900.
Her headstone dates are 1836 - 1923
on a few other documents I found her age stated as, 64 years old on 25 July 1901 63 years old on 20 June 1901 63 years old on 8 Oct. 1900 72 years old on 25 Oct 1908
These dates suggest that she was born between 1836 and 1837. Does anyone have information of this Mary E. Batterton daughter of William??? I now believe that the Henry I though was her father may have been a brother instead. Anything will help. Thank you, Holly
