You may know that Nicholas William Battle was a district attorney, then district judge in McLennan County (Waco) Texas prior to the civil war.He fought for the confederacy -- 30th calvary -- then returned to Waco, where Gov. Coke appointed him district judge.He left Texas in 1890 and settled in Seattle.
