Welcome to the family.I'm glad you found "Descendants of Matthew Battle" but I can give you information not found in the book.There are several of us cousins working on the Rev. Battle is listed in Captain Kelsey's District (District 474) of Monroe County, Georgia.He owned 18 slaves valued at $9,000.00.The value of his money and solvent debts equaled $300.00.The value of his household and kitchen furniture over $300.00 equals $10.00 and the value of his "property not before enumerated" equals 648.00.The value of his whole property equaled $9,958.00.He appeared on the census in 1860 in Monroe County, Georgia.6,7,8James Branham Battle was listed in the 1860 Census of Monroe County, Georgia in Kelsey's District, #474 GM.The family lived in the Russellville PO address.The census was collected July 14, 1860 by Assistant Marshall, Cary A. Franklin Cheney BATTLE was born in 1851.20,21,14Susan Grills was able to locate a letter written by Ernie Battle, the grandson of Franklin Cheney Battle, in which he states that Franklin Cheney Battle was born in 1851.He appeared on the census in 1860 in Monroe County, Georgia.22,23He was located after 1865 in southeast Oklahoma, near Durant.14
