Hi Lois, thanks for replying! You gave me some info that I didn't know, that Geraldus was in Alabama at one time. Let me recap what I have here and see if you agree with it. Geraldus was born about 1792 in Edgecomb, NC. He was the son of Joseph Batts. He served in the War of 1812. He married Elizabeth (Betsy)Knight in 1815 when he was about 24 yr. old. Geraldus and Betsy left NC and went to Limestone Co., Al. Betsy must have died and he married someone named Nancy.(Did he marry Nancy IN Al., or after he got to Ky?) He died in Ky. (any idea where?) Now to the other part of your reply that I am interested in. You said that Elizabeth Knights aunt (Lucy Knight) married Isaac Batts.Who was "this" Isaac Batts? The reason I am asking is that I am trying to prove that Isaac is a son of Geraldus.I can go to Clarks Cemetary in Hickman Co., Ky and an Isaac Batts and some of his descendants are buried there. His marker and info that I have indicates that Isaac Batts was born Dec 16, 1813 in Edgecomb,NC. and died Jan. 17, 1864.
If Geraldus "WAS" his father, Geraldus would have been about 21 when Isaac was born. So, is this the same Isaac that married your Lucy Knight?I am showing "my" Isaac as being married to Catherine E. Tarpley, (b.in Sumner Co., Tn.)So, are there 2 Isaac Batts?
I appreciate you taking the time to answer any of these questions that you might have the answer to.If any of you other Batts' that have Hickman Co., Ky. connections care to jump in on this, please do.I had several contacts, but had a computer crash and lost all of you!
