my great great grandparents are ann and leo- nard batts. My great grandmother is ellen harley batts, and she married richard ziglar in vernon co. in mo in 1885. They moved to idaho, and she died in childbirth. She had a sister and I have the family back to 1680 in england when they lived in oakwell hall, which they lost in 1820 (or sold). If you would like the info e-mail me and I will mail you a tremendous pedigree from me back to 1542. The batts are well documented. They had slaves, and I know a story of how leonard got his toe cut off ,when he said he would give his toe for a piece of pie, and the slave cut it off. He later avoided the army with this .
