Hello all. I'm a fellow "Baublitz" here in Florida and am recently looking into our family name. I became extremely interested in it when I got married this past August and was deciding whether or not to fully change my last name from Baublitz to Dinneen. I've grown quite attached and proud of the Baublitz name, since it's such a rare one, so I'm thinking of hypenating it, but it's so long I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable. Anyways, I've found that although Baublitz is a relatively rare one, it's found a lot in the Baltimore and Pennsylvania areas.. apparently where the "Baublitzes" came over from Germany years and years ago.
Anyways, for anyone who cares.. there are a few Baublitzes here in South Florida.. my father/mother and brother are all here, and my Uncle, Aunt and his family are down in Miami. We even ran into a Waterbed City salesman a few years back with the name "Peter Baublitz" and we had no idea who he was, but he was from Pennsylvania. Interesting.. however, he's the only other non-blood relative I've met with the same exact last name.
Anyways, I'm still doing a bit of research on my family's geneaology and would be interested in hearing about anyone else's. My father was born and raised in Norfolk, VA, surnames Baublitz and Kidd. E-mail me if you'd like to talk some more... I'd love to hear from fellow "Baublitzes". :)
