We think the Reetz or Rhetz family that settled in Kansas after arriving in the US in 1864 is directly related to the Bauer family or related through the Schulze, Schulze or Schultz family.The Reetz/Rhetz family that arrived in the US in 1864 lived or visited the Platkow, New Langsow, Seelow, Kossenblatt, and Brandenburg Germany/Prussia areas.
Gottfried Reetz/Rhetz of Platkow, Germany married Luise Amalie Schulze of New Langsow in the parish in Seelow, Germany in 1851. They had three children (Luise Henriette Amalie Reetz, Johann Godfrey Reetz and Minnie Reetz) before Gottfried's death in the late 1850’s. After Gottfried's death, Luise Amalie Schulze-ReetzRhetz later married August Luckan who was born in Kossenblatt, Germany and they along with the Reetz children emigrated to the US in 1864. They settled in Leavenworth County near the Bauer family.My grandfather (William Adolph Reetz) whom was the son of Johann Godfrey Reetz, purchased a farm in 1914 that had belonged to Andreas Bauer and his wife, Henriette Wilhelmina Schulz-Bauer.Andreas and Henriette Bauer had five children; George Washington Bauer, Charles Patrick Bauer, Emma Ellen Bauer, Andreas Johann Bauer and August Franz Bauer.
