Could Bertha BAXTER have been the surname of one of her married daughters or step-daughters?
Would some kind soul please look at the 1900 census [part is at the bottom of this message] and see if they give place of birth for Bertha and her parents?
I was originally under the assumption that Bertha may have been one of Mary and Ransom COOK's children, but it is equally possible she is a granddaughter whose parents died or one died and Ransom and Mary took her in.
