Jacob Boehme of Lancaster Co., PA (ca 1693-1781) and Jakob Boehme (1575-1624)
This post was precipitated by a Beam/Beahm cousin.
A cousin sent me an e-mail today that suggested that I visit a particular website so that I could see the pedigree of Jacob Boehme of Lancaster Co., PA (ca 1693-1781) traced all the way back to the 1400s through Jakob Boehme (1575-1624) of Görlitz, Silesia, also known as "the Mystic." I have seen this pedigree many times. There is absolutely no proof of this lineage. Any records that may have existed to prove this connection were destroyed during one of the many wars in this area prior to the 18th century. As far as I am able to dertermine, this connection was an "obsession" of Shirley Deane Briggs. I have been constructing at online database of the descendants of the Boehm family of Lancaster Co., PA. My goal is to include only verifiable genealogy in this database. At some point, perhaps, a DNA study may "prove" or "disprove" this theory.
