Hello!I have so little info - I wish I had more to share. The researcher who gave me the info on Mary Ann Bean in 1988 has since passed away.Mary Ann was born in October 1813 and died in Dixmont in 1878.She is buried in a cemetery along the Hwy in North Dixmont. The researcher (Lillian Seebohm) had given me 3 pages of sources and references for all the branches of family that she gave me, but I don't know which, if any, is relate to Mary Ann Bean. Most of her research was related to the Gatchells and Boyntons (Mary Ann married a Gatchell and her 2nd son married a Boynton).
Some other interesting notes - Mary Ann and Lewis named their oldest son Augustus.Since frequently the names were passed along from generation to generation it might fit that her father's name would have been Fred Augustus. Also, several of Mary Ann and Lewis' children named their kids "Fred".
I live quite a distance from you - I'm in Seattle, WA.Mary Ann's son Andrew Jackson Gatchell moved to Minnesota, and then his daughter, Tina Gatchell married Edward Conroy and moved to Portland, Oregon. Our family has been in the Pacific NW ever since.I did visit Maine in 1991 and found the house in Dixmont where Mary Ann and Lewis raised their family.Right next door is the cemetery where Mary Ann and Lewis are buried.
Let me know if there is anything else the might be helpful in your research.Your idea the Fred Augustus might be the father is especially intriquing.I had noticed yesterday that there was a John Bean near Joshua in one of the census records - and wondered if they were brothers.Mary Ann's birthdate would fit with Johns - about a year and a half apart.
