Hello Lisa - Peter Ellis Bean descends from William Bean,b. 1721, VA and Lydia (Russell) Bean line of East Tennessee which they settled in 1768-69. Peter Ellis was an adventurer, a military officer in Mexico, and a bigamist! Candace Midcaff was one of his two wives; the other lived in Mexico and Peter Ellis bounced between the two for decades! His life reads like a cheap, but fascinating, novel and he comes over (to me) like a lovable sociopath. The Bean Family is most interesting, and they are still studied in the Civic classes in Tennessee. I am always happy to exchange info re: the Beans, especially those from TN & MS.
