Hi Jackie: What makes William Bean and Lydia (Russell)Bean special in Tennessee? Well, for starters, they and several of their children were the first white family to settlle permanently in what is now Washington Co., Tenn. They were pioneers, soldiers in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812; they were involved in developing government bodies, explored throughout the "Wester Frontier". They were courageous, creative, callous, inventive, restless, men and women who exemplfy the Scot-Irish spirit of Colonial and post-revolutionary America. The stories of Peter Ellis Bean, Russell Bean & Rosamond Robertson, Lydia Bean and Nancy Ward, ad infinitum, would fill a book with adventure, humor and pride. We share a heritage in this long line of one of America's truely historic families. Would I boast just a little? you Bet!!Cordially, Fred Bean
