I am the grandaughter of Gladys Bear (le Beare) whose family came to Australia from England on one of the first ships in the 1700/1800's.They settled in Melbourne.My father often recounts the story of a forebear(e) being in Court in the 1700's when the King said, 'muzzle that Beare' - hence the muzzled bear on the family crest.Have you heard of this story or the crest?Write back soon.
