Jacob Baer was born 12 March 1757 in Northampton (now Lehigh) County PA. He had a younger brother Georg, born about 1768.
Jacob served in the Northampton County militia in the Revolutionary War. According to the militia call-up scheme, he would have served in an active duty company with my ancestor Daniel Wert.
Jacob Baer moved to Westmoreland County PA by about 1815 and apparently lived there the rest of his life. He lived until at least 1837, when his Rev. War pension was granted.
I have obtained the contents of the pension application file for this Jacob Baer, because I am trying to piece together the history of the 2nd class of militia from Northampton County. Besides this Jacob, the file also sheds a little light on his younger brother Georg, besides mentioning another Jacob Baer living in Greene County in the 1830s.
Anyway, I have retyped the file contents into a Word97 document, which I will be happy to attach to an e-mail to anyone who is interested.
