I am researching four soldiers who enlisted in the 26th Arkansas Infantry Regiment during the Civil War.They are:
Burrell BeardCo. FPvt/Pvt Enlisted 16 Jun 1862 at Tulip,Dallas County, Arkansas.Absent sick at Camp Hope Hospital 25 Aug 1862.Sent home sick and rejoined regiment after October 1862.Absent without leave 31 Jan 1864.Age listed as 17 on 1860 Dallas County Census.Born in Arkansas.
John E. BeardCo. APvt/Pvt Enlisted 3 May 1862 at Monticello, Drew County, Arkansas; 50 miles from home.Detailed as teamster 6 Jun 1862.Appointed regimental wagon master 18 Aug 1862.Furloughed 5 Nov 1863.Did not report back to regiment.Took Oath of Allegiance 1 Jan 1864 listing home as Mill Creek, Drew County; age, 27; eyes, blue; hair, sandy; height 5'9"; occupation, farmer.
Micheal Alexander BeardCo. DPvt/Pvt Enlisted 12 May 1862 at Centreville, Bradley County, Arkansas.Present through February 1864.Detailed as regimental shoe-maker 11 Feb 1864 by Colonel Yell.Age listed as 27 on 1860 Bradley County Census; occupation, master carpenter.Born in Anson County, North Carolina.Filed Pension Application (15810) 8 Aug 1902 from Cleveland County.Died 1 Sep 1917 in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas.
William W. BeardCo. FPvt/Pvt Enlisted 16 Jun 1862 at Tulip, Dallas County, Arkansas; 70 miles from home.No record thereafter.Afterwards enlisted in Company C, 33rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment.Died 19 Dec 1899.Widow Fannie R. Beard filed Pension Application (4498) 8 Aug 1906 from Dallas County.
I have no genealogical connection to these men but am writing a book on their regiment.Any help in learning their dates/places of birth, death, and burial location would be greatly appreciated.
