1798- Beard, Samuel--Native of Greenbrier and Culpeper Counties, Virginia, came to Green County, Kentucky in 1798. The family numbering seventeen including servants came over the mountains on packhorses. After a short rest at Crab Orchard and Carpenter’s, Station in Lincoln County, Ky. they continued to a point on Green River two and one half miles below the mouth of Casey Creek where they located on several thousand acres of land. This was in the part of Green County, which became Adair County in 1800. Samuel, a veteran of the Revolution, moved from Ky. to Tennessee late in life. I also have a time line of tax records for Adair County from 1803-1844 and a Hugh Beard was still listed on the 1844 date. From this data it's hard to make family connections. It's my hope that someway we will come up with family units (groups) and these dates will help place them in the correct time frame. If any of this ties in with what you have please let me know.
