This is a very long shot. My grandmother was Mary Alice Beard and I am pretty sure, since I have her birth certificate, that she was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, in 1873. Her father was Charles E. Beard, occupation: farmer; birthplace of the father "Unknown". I wonder if there is a connection to your grandfather? Regards, Chuck Stanton
