Stella, that is a very interesting question. There has been only a little speculation as to whether or not Martha Beard who was a founder of Milford, Connecticut, may have had a connection to the Beard individuals who were early in Massachusetts, but never a suggestion in any research that this may be so.
I have never encountered anyone researching Beard in Massachusetts who was trying to find a tie to any Beard in Maryland. It is certainly a possibility.
You could send your information to me, post it in a reply to this response, or (maybe better) make a separate post for your Robert Beard giving the names, dates, locations or any other information you may have for Robert Baird, his wife Alice, and their children.
If you do a post with a subject line such as this below, I will look for it:
BEARD Robert Maryland 1620-1650
Thanks for the question about this Thomas Beard. We are trying to learn if he is an ancestor of a later Thomas Beard who was a mariner at Boston, and who may have been lost at sea with his wife.Their son, Thomas, was apparently raised in the Thomas Carter/John Carter family. This putative son and my first definite Thomas Beard was born 1708 at Woburn, Massachusetts.
