This is not my line at all as far as I know, but William Holbrook Beards name caught my attention as I also have Holbrooks in my line.I copied a few biographies from a book at the library (I failed to keep my sources at the time) and just kept them for reference. The biographies state that James Henry Beard and William Holbrook Beard were the sons of Capt. James Beard who married Harriet Wolcott.James Henry descended from Sir James Beard on his fathers side and descended from Sir Lochlan Maclean on his mothers side.William Holbrook Beard's mother was left a widow while he was an infant.William Holbrook Beard first married Flora Johnson who died a few months after the wedding. He then married Carrie d/o Thomas Le Clear. The biographies also state that Capt. Beard died when James was 11 years old, and James ran away from home at the age of 17.It states that James Henry Beard was born 5/20/1812 in Buffalo NY, and then his father moved their family to Painesville, Ohio.

There is also a biography of James Henry Beard and family, and biographies for his sons James Carter Beard and Thomas Francis Beard listing some of their siblings and parents and wives and many interesting facts, if you are interested I will send it to you via e-mail.One of the sources for the biographies is listed as being "information from brother Daniel C. Beard", and there are several book sources listed as well.
