I think I've hit a breakthrough on my Frederick Baird (married to Roxanna Cone in CT).I've found a Frederick BEARD married to Roxanne Cone (variations on the spelling of both her first and last name - Cone, Cohen, Cohn, etc.)But I have his place of birth in Edford, IL when I'd originally believed him to have been born in CT.
I know that his son Frederick used the surname "Baird", though I don't know if his siblings did as well, or at what point this change happened.I'll post the info that I'm fairly certain of here to see if this matches up with anyone:
Frederick Beard, birth listed differently in two sources, one is 1800 the other is 1794.As I've said, I've found Edford Township, Illinois linked with his name.I've linked him to New York as early as the 1830 census - Genesse County - which is where he died in 1861.
He married Roxanna Cone in 1818 in Guilford, CT.She died in Colorado Springs in 1866.
Their children are below - as I said, I don't know if they're Beard or Baird or some other spelling entirely:
Mable Maria - b. 1891 d. 1850 in Alabama, NY Sarah Louisa - b. 1821 d. 1840 in Lockport, NY Gustavus J. - b. 1823 d. unknown (Married Lerusa Failing and had two kids, Berton and Helen) Frederick - b. 1827 (in NY) d. 1914 in IL.I know he used the Baird name.Married Caroline Partridge, two sons, William and Charles. Solomon Truman - died under one year old William - b. 1832 d. 1897 Hannah Elisabeth - b. 1838, died in Colorado Springs.Apparently she was married twice, once to Joal Roe and once to John Like. Rosaltha - b. 1840, died in Colorado Springs.Married Alfred Cone.
So maybe Frederick the elder was divorced but I don't have any remarriage info on him or Roxanna.I have Roxanna traced back to Scotland in the 1600's but am stuck with this new Beard/Baird thing - which I never even considered before today, duh!:o)
