In addition to my separate e-mail to you, I have had Shirley Aleguas of the USGenWeb site for Cass County, Illinois, post another bio for S.L. (Simon) Calef which has some helpful hints within it.
It indicates that Ann Eliza Beard was born in Connecticut but went to Geauga County.
I do recall that a James Beard (married to a woman from te Connecticut Wolcott family) from Connecticut was a captain on the Great Lakes and was also involved in the passage by water of various of the Amos Beard sons from Buffalo, New York, to Ohio.James Beard is mentioned in the history of Geauga County.
I don't know if there is a connection between the Beard people of Connecticut and Massachusetts, nor does any other Beard researcher. The Beard people of Connecticut stem from, on the whole, the family of Martha Beard who was a founder of Milford, Connecticut.According to anything I have seen in print, she sailed for the New World with her children and husband James who, tradition states, died on the passage. They came to Milford with the Peter Prudden group, but had first landed at Boston and then removed to New Haven before their group purchased land at what became Milford.
I imagine that the Loderick Maine people that I found at Warren County, Iowa, are your group, although I haven't yet heard from you about that.I have seen him as Louderick Main, as well, probably in the Illinois Marriage Index.
