John Beard is in Harrison, Indiana in 1880

I am looking for information on John Beard, who is found on the 1880 census in Harrison, Union, Indiana. He is listed with wife Catherine Beard and the following children:
Mary G, age 14; Martha C., age 11; John A., age 5; Mariah M.; age 3. Also John SAIMMEL, father-in-law is listed with the family.

John was born in Maryland of German parents- John and Catherine. She died in Feb 1877 and I am not sure when he died. I believe he is the brother of Charles Lawrence Beard, my ggrandfather.
