Worcester records show a David and Martha Bard/Beard/ Barde in Worcester, Ma c. 1730- Does anyone have any links to this couple or more information? Thanks
Will of David Bard (from Worcester Probate Court); “In the name of God Amen; I David Barde of Worcester in the County of Middlesex in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay...” (parts difficult to read due to photcopy) goes on to include “I give & bequeth outo Martha my well loved wife all my..” “I give and bequeth unto my two children David and Joan ( could it be John?) the sum of tweleve pounds of money... signed the 26th day of September 1730. David’s last name is spelled Bard, Barde, Beard There is also a death record for David Beard, Oct, 25, 1730, in Worcester, MA
In the Worcester Co Deeds there is an entry for Aug 30, 1731. It states” Matha Bard of Worcester in The County of Worcester..New England--- “in Consideration of 80 pounds in bills of credit for certain tract of land lying and being in Worcester. On ye west side of halfway River near cheft (unreadable) Rice on ye south side of ye Co. (unreadable) butted and bounded as followes Eastery on Land of James McCallen. Sotherly on commondand and westerly on land in possion of Jonathan Gates and Northerly on the Countery Road athe same being twenty rows be the same more or less togeather with all ye priviledges and .. to Samuel Heming.”“Her name was spelled Bard and Beard interchangeably through out docment.
